Ilaria Honsinger
Ilaria Honsinger (b 1982, Fiesole, Italy) comes from a lineage of renowned artists. Her mother, Katie Duck is a dancer, choreographer, teacher & performer and her father, Tristan Honsinger, is a contemporary cello player & composer.At the age of five Ilaria moved to the UK with her mother who took up a teacher post at Britain's most contemporary performingarts college, Dartington College of Arts. Five years later she moved again with Katie to Amsterdam, the arts hub of the Netherlands. From a very early age Ilaria was encouraged to perform in public, mainly playing the violin. Meanwhile she always created visual art, mainly paintings.
From the age of 18 the visual arts - especially the oil on canvas medium- become the focus of her work, often within gallery & performative situations. Her interests have led her seamlessly to other areas of visuality. She currently collaborates with Katie Duck. contributing paintings and videos to Duck Projects - an ever evolving collaborative project that combines pre-set films & light designs with live music and dance improvisation.
Ilaria also videos & documents dance related events, designs websites for artists & educative institutions. She is currently developing and exhibiting oil on canvas portraits of artists and public figures from various areas and genres.
